Lowe and Basset is a locally owned excavation and earthwork company serving Jackson and surrounding areas, including Belfast, Waterville, Bangor, Augusta, Newport, and Unity. What started in 2010 as Lowe Mowing & Landscaping grew into the full-service excavation operation you'll find today. Owner Markus Lowe has spent the last 16 years working in this industry, and the business evolved in 2017 to reflect the expanded capabilities—heavy equipment, site development, septic systems, and the kind of projects that require both technical expertise and hands-on management.

That evolution happened because clients kept asking for more than mowing. They needed driveways built, drainage fixed, sites cleared, septic systems installed. Markus said yes, invested in the equipment and certifications to do the work right, and built a crew capable of handling both residential projects and commercial site development. Many of the relationships formed back in those early mowing days are still active—homeowners who now call when they need excavation work, contractors who know the quality they'll get.



You'll work directly with Markus on project planning and pricing. He manages every job personally, walks the site with you, explains what the work will involve, and provides a free quote with no surprises. The company holds DEP certification for sediment and erosion control, DEP certification for shoreline stabilization and permitting, and is a trained and certified installer for Eljen Geotextile Sand Filter (GSF) Systems.
